2024 Kansas City Heartland IASIU Keynote speaker: Art Grady, SIU Forensics Sr. Consultant I, Allstate Insurance Company

Teacher – Mentor – Innovator – Leader”; these are just a few words used to describe this year’s keynote speaker.  Mr. Grady is the co-founder of the Special Investigations Forensics team (SIFT) at Allstate Insurance Company where he is considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for digital images. He began his career in the insurance industry more than twenty years ago after serving in the U.S. Air Force for thirteen years.  His experience and expertise in the area of Digital Image Forensics has led to him being featured in three Allstate training videos on the subject, and an invited presenter at multiple industry conferences. In his spare time, Art enjoys wood working, creating artwork, golfing, and general tinkering in his garage.



Mr Grady will be speaking on The Unexpected Journey’ This discussion will focus on the use of digital image forensics in the world of insurance and how he got here.  He will also discuss emerging challenges such as the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on photo creation and alteration.

 

Additional learning topics:

  • Slip and Fall Claims… Fact or Friction, Bill King with Impact General.  Description:  The cost of slip and fall injury claims to the insurance industry is second only to automobile accidents.  The types of injuries that can result from slip and falls can be minor to catastrophic especially as our elder population continues to grow.  This class will touch on some of the basic physics of how and why we fall along with various sciences that can be used to help determine the merit of such claims.  The objective of the class is to provide additional investigative and forensic tools to enhance skills when reviewing the claimed injury, the statements, and other scene facts to discover the red flags that can warrant further investigation.  
  • Workers Compensation Investigations for SIU and Claims Personnel,  Eric J. Danowitz,  Attorney at Mokri Vanis & Jones, LLC.  Description:  This course will focus on worker’s compensation investigations tips and techniques for both SIU personnel and Claims personnel
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the 2024 Insurance Industry – John Keddy, Insurance AI Solutions, Lazarus AI.  Description:  This session will start with some clear definitions of key AI themes that all insurance leaders must know. We will then move to 2024 AI predictions for the insurance industry. These predictions will discuss trends with the realities and risks of AI for our industry.   Participants may ask questions or share their views at any time and engagement is encouraged but not required.
  • Ethics for SIU Investigations and Claim Professionals:  Jon Colman, Founding Partner, Colman Perkins Law Group.  Description:  This session will cover areas of claims and SIU ethics in investigations, to include the Six Pillars of Character, Written and Unwritten Riles, protocols and best practices.
